Security In-Depth

To enable dApp developers to build secure and sovereign connections between dApps across chains, we employ light client verification powered by LCP (Light Client Proxy). LCP will become the core foundation for TOKI bridge and third-party apps, including institution-grade apps, driving decentralization and innovation. For a deeper understanding of why this approach is poised to become the standard for the next generation, please refer to our Vision.

What is LCP?

LCP is a groundbreaking technology that empowers light client verification by leveraging TEEs and ZKPs as multi-provers.

Light client verification is essential for achieving trust-minimized and highly efficient connections among dApps. This approach is known as foundational to the Cosmos ecosystem, which has successfully implemented mesh connections with zero exploits to date.

However, a significant challenge remains: performing light client verification on EVM-based chains is prohibitively expensive. To solve this, TOKI employs TEEs and ZKPs as multi-provers to offload the verification process from the chain itself. This dramatically reduces costs while preserving the robust security and properties of light client verification.

How LCP Works

Currently, the TEE prover, Intel SGX, is configured as the primary mechanism, and the ZK prover is under development. You can find more details in the MILESTONE. Additionally, IBC is employed as the primary messaging standard. Please refer to Why IBC for more details.

Benefits

Build sovereign connections to break free from dominant bridges

  • Robust Security: Built-in light client verification running on TEEs and ZKPs

  • Easy and Quick Bootstrap: A connection is established without a dedicated team and expertise

  • Minimal Cost: Operational costs and gas costs are ultra-efficient

  • Fast and Scalable: As fast as the source chain's finality no matter how many transactions increase.

  • Privacy Preserving: Your data is validated and relayed by nodes you control.

Features

Highly secure and truly open technology

  • Light Client Verification: Core to maintaining verifiable and efficient connections.

  • Multi-Prover Security: A proven security inherited from TEEs and ZKPs for light client verification.

  • Stateless: Recover the state only using on-chain data, leading to robust liveness.

  • Extensible: Designed to support a broader range of blockchains, from L1 to L2, or enterprise-grade chains.

  • Fully Open Source: Full Transparency and community-driven

In this model, staking is not required, as TEEs and ZKPs provide robust and diverse security guarantees. However, a secondary token issuance besides the TOKI token is anticipated to incentivize multiple LCP node operators and mitigate potential risks.
